As defined by the World Health Organization, being obese is abnormal or too much fat accumulation that presents a risk to health. A crude measure of weight problems currently used is the body mass index (BMI), which is a person’s weight (in kilograms) divided by the square of his or her height (in meters). A person with a BMI equal to or greater than 25 is obese, while a person with a BMI of 30 or even more is obese, although you need to consider your waist circumference as well.
At our clinics in Dubai we have various levels of intervention to assist any individual from the moderately obese to those whose weight problems is badly effecting on their health and lifestyle. Our techniques rage from basic diet and activity tweaks, in-depth plans or behavioral counselling, to non-surgical endoscopic techniques such as a gastric balloon and, as a last resort, bariatric (weight-loss) surgical treatment.
